IEP Services

An Individualized Education Plan is written for all students found eligible for special education.  The IEP is a written document which states present levels, establishes measurable annual goals, as well as the services and supplementary aids needed to achieve those goals and help the student access an appropriate education.  Parents receive a update of progress toward goals at the time of each school report card (mid-year, and in June in PVSD).

Students eligible for special education have access to a continuum of services, as determined by the IEP Team.  These services are based on student needs and goals, with consideration for the least restrictive environment in making all educational decisions.  In addition, accommodations and modifications may be included, to facilitate learning and success in all school environments.

A Case Manager is assigned to every student with an IEP in PVSD.  This person is generally the main service provider for the child, or another staff member overseeing the child's program.  If your child has an IEP, please contact your child's Case Manager anytime during the school year to discuss your child's program.

Placement Options

In accordance with Federal and State laws, services will be provided in the least restrictive environment (LRE) through a continuum of services and placement options.  The concept of LRE is designed to meet the diverse needs of students, and is determined on an individual basis by the IEP Team.  The principle of LRE is intended to ensure that a child with a disability is served in a setting where the child can be educated successfully.
