Parcel Tax Exemption

The Portola Valley School District offers residents who are seniors age 65 or older or are receiving Social Security Disability Insurance benefits, regardless of age. To receive the exemption, applications and supporting documents must be submitted to the District office. Once granted, exemptions will remain in effect as long as the resident remains eligible. Review this page for more information and frequently asked questions related to parcel tax exemptions.

The requirements to receive the exemption are:

1. Owners who are either receiving Supplemental Security Income for a disability, regardless of age, or who are 65 years of age or older on or before May 1 of the fiscal year immediately preceding the year in which the tax would apply.

2. The applicant owns and occupies the property for which the exemption is claimed.

3. The applicant must complete the application and submit with supporting documents prior to May 1st. We do not accept applications retroactively.
