Senior Resident Exemption

The Portola Valley School District residents who are seniors age 65 or older, or are receiving Social Security Disability Insurance benefits, regardless of age are eligible. To receive the exemption, applications and supporting documents must be submitted to the District office. Once granted, exemptions will remain in effect as long as the resident remains eligible. 

The requirements to receive the senior exemption are:
1. Owners who are either receiving Supplemental Security Income for a disability, regardless of age, or who are 65 years of age or older on or before June 30 of the fiscal year immediately preceding the year in which the tax would apply.

2. The applicant owns and occupies the property for which the exemption is claimed.

All exemption applications must be complete and submitted with supporting documents prior to June 15. We do not accept applications retroactively.
